I have a friend that has a 3D didital Camera that can convert to a dxf file. He was asking me if I could carve it on my ShopBot. Though I use my machine for basic cabinetry and lettered a few signs. I have never 3D carved. I have seen others on this forum doing a very nice job of this. If anyone is interested in helping him and me understand what it takes to get the 3D dxf to a finished carved product. That would be much appreciated. If interested I can e-mail you a copy of the dxf file he sent me. It is to big to attach to this message.
Thanks TFix

Look at Vectrics Carve3D. It should do what you want to do.

I think the Software Nils T is referring to is actually called "Cut3D" (Carve3D is my business name). You can download a trial from here - http://www.vectric.com so you can use this to test your file.
You might also look at PartWorks3D from ShopBot which is essentially the same software re-labeled.

TFix,
I'd be interested in knowing what kind of camera he's got.
