After getting my torque wrench I realized it is very hard to get enough leverage with the wrenches provided. You have to have really strong hands to get 85# of pressure. I even made my wrench a bit longer a while ago with a nice ebony handle and inlay. I hated to remove it but I did not want to have to order another wrench and wait for it.
so I took my original wrench and mashed the end of some 1/2" black pipe to fit and drove it on. I think I used 12" then I made a rosewood handle for it. a bit big around but there is only about 1/8" of wood on it or a bit more. not really enough to do inlay on it.
now one hand squeeze no problem.
I had to do this groove on the router table and man what a hassle had one small catch and it shattered the bit.

Looks nice. Did you get the torque wrench that Brady told us about?

How about pictures of the torque Wrench too.

I got minr from msc. it saved me about 50.00 and I have 30 days to pay (G) I uses a dovetail to hold the wrenches and such on. the 27mm wrench was way to thick so I had to grind it down.

Hi folks-

I went over to Steve's place to see what 85 foot pounds felt like with that torque wrench...it was much tighter than I expected. I was surprised at how much force it took to get there. It was way more than I have been using on my spindle, and hard to get to with those small wrenches...
