The manual is your friend.

On my PC, under C:\Program Files\ShopBot\ShopBot 3\Help are all of the quick references and manuals in PDF format.
They're fairly well organized, but one hint I can give is that, if there is a regular BASIC programming language statement to do something, then the same statement probably exists in the ShopBot programming language.
RND() for instance.
Enjoy!

Andy,
Do you have other Shopbotters in the area? Sometimes spending an afternoon watching someone else is the easiest way.
I think that most of us started out by cutting simple circles, rectangles and triangles in MDF or foam until we built up confidence. Almost everything that I cut uses rectangles, triangles and/or circles.
Draw the parts using PartWizard and create the cut files using PartWizard. Use an editor to look at the commands in the SBP files. Then study the manual until you understand the basic commands that you find in the PartWizard generated files (MX, M2, M3, SA, SO, etc.)
There is nothing difficult about programming, but like learning anything new, it takes a little study, a little practice, and a little head-scratching before it makes a lot of sense.

In 2 years i am going to try to get a job as a cnc operator. of corse they will train me but its a whole different program then shop bot. My shop teacher said he not a shop bot smart person, the best way is to read the manual and play around with it. I download the software and playing around with some commands and getting use to other types of things that i can use. I understand most of it but what gets me is when trying to cut a square or circle. Dia, i get the out side inside one, direction? i thought router bits only went in one direction!, begin angle, end angle, plung, rep., proportion X, proportion Y, no pull up? router stays down all the time? Plunge from 0. everything else i get that i have not mention.
Some other question i got is what is forney fluter? I don't get that part of the software?
