I ordered my 48-96 Standard yesterday (7-15). One of the main reasons I chose to Buy a Shopbot was the wealth of knowledge, and the members willingness to share that information with one another.
I was wondering if anyone out there has any tips on preparing my workspace in advance of delivery. I have a 26' x 30' double garage that I'll be re-organizing around the Shopbot.
Thank you.
Darren
Is the electric ready?
Have you download the latest control software release?
Dust collector and vacuum ready?
Do you have at least a starter bit set and have sources for tool bits and collets?
Is the control station ready?
Have you figured the way you'll be routing the wires for the machine to the control box and from the control box to the control computer/control station?
Do you have you support/spoil/vacuum board ready?
You may have plenty of homework to do regarding CAD/CAM...

My shop is the same size as yours and with my other woodworking tools it is way too small but beats renting a larger space. In prep for my PRS standard I made a mock-up of the size of the machine to see where it would fit best. It helped me to make the right location before the machine arrived and I ran my wires and dust collection ahead of time. I was worried that once the machine was assembled I would want to move to another location in the shop and have to rerun some things. Making marks on the floor is one thing, but taking some 2x4's and making a full scale layout off the floor helped me, especially in a small space. Good luck you will love the machine. Did you get router or spindle? Do as Paco mentions and download the software or have shopbot send you the software to get a jump on the learning curve.

The machine will have the 2.2 hp spindle.
I don't have source for collets or bits as of yet.
The vacuum table I have a rough idea but I'll have a look around the forum for tips. I saw one with T slots that looked good.
Great idea about the mock up.
I have been playing around with the software and have a couple of very simple things ready to be cut.
Thank you.
