PR software upgrade

2000 PR running Sb238. Can I run any later versions? If not using the 4G board, can a PR run Sb2.39 or 3.4? If not, what is the reason - thanks, just a newbie and a million questions. I switched from 2 to 2.38, seemed like it made a difference in speed, unless the settings were low and when I switched, I brought them up.

No.

Reason being that the on-board controller on the PR cannot run later than v2.38. So you're stuck with DOS until you upgrade to WinXP Pro and a PRT or 4G board.

Is a PRT board available, or can I only go to the 4G now? Big difference from PRT to 4G? On another note - switched from 2 to 238 earlier today, did just one 3d carving, it came out inverted. The relief and model looked ok though. Will run another test tomorrow to see if it happens on another model. All other controls seem to be ok.

You really need an entire PRT control box...and if you are going to do that, you might as well just buy a 4G and be done with it.
