I usually get bored with new toys after I get them 90% figured out.

My bot has been building me flawless cabinets and in my spare time some nice and fun projects.

I had heard about bit deflection and thought yada yada and recently have been cutting walnut and hard alder a huge change from my normal MDF.

It has been a fun week learning about bit deflection and the changes to make so that my bits dont deflect lol.

Thanks for this forum!
I can forsee years and years of faithful use from my bot!

what are you doing so your bit doesn't deflect?

just slowing down and not cutting as deep

yes I have all my and planes I make on my bot and we are talking huge deflection. I am cutting tropical woods like purpleheart and jatoba and such. if I did a climb cut to control tearout there was a pretty striking size difference in parts.
going to a roughing bit let me cut all of them with a normal cut and it helps. but still opposite angles can be a bit off.

From Low's
Bosch 1/4" solid carbide downspiral

I normally cut MDF so I dont have to be real picky about my bits
