Ok now that I have your attention lol. I have a big chunk of peralta that is not federally tax stamped so technically it is illegal =P

It is 7" thick by 21X21 rugged looking with chainsaw marks on it. I am looking for a reallly detailed relief to carve into it.

Something reallly cool. On one side of it I did a 3/4" relief of an indian head but this block deserves more detail!!

If anyone has a really cool relief please email me I'll carve it and post pics.

Some cool stuff there but Im not going to pay for it. That would be like going to the store and buying a carved piece.

There are alot of reliefs on the yahoo group someone will post or email me a cool one.

If someone gives me a cool relief its not store bought and it was a nice thought on their part so it would be worthy of a carving for my front office.

Now if I needed a specific relief for a job I would buy it in a heartbeat.

But just not for my front office lol

Danyy,
give me an idea of what you have in mind for a file. Object, person, animal, place, scene so i can narrow the search down.

ha, Im not sure. Maybe an animal. Maybe a rustic scene. Could even be something reallly artsy, I think Im looking mostly for something to fit with the piece of peralta.

What I mean is the piece is rustic looking dragged down the mountains in mexico pulled by mules. But it could have dramatic contrast and have a really cool detailed angel in it.

Guess what Im getting at is I DONT KNOW lol

but I intend to mount it on the wall in my office

Danny,Just one opinion BUT if I had a special piece of stock and wanted something for my personal showcase, I wouldn't rely on a donation. Rather I would determine what would compliment my space, skills, ambitions, and goals, then make an effort to see it come to life. Down in your Laguna /Newport Beach area, art is so great, plentiful, and inspirational, I would respectfully suggest a bit of soul searching and careful study of the blank you have to see how the "wood want's to be transformed" and make it so!
Great art doesn't come from convenient or commonly available duplication and unique natural wood blanks don't come to your desk every day so be one with the piece and make it an heirloom piece IF you can. You only have one more chance with this one so pilot and test before committing it to the scrap pile.
Enjoy either way and hope it stays there for years to come.

Danny,

Not to be picky here, but what is the difference between buying an image and someone giving you one (other than the money issue)?

Now, if YOU created something for your special peice of wood, that WOULD be something special.
