A fellow teacher of mine wanted to carve a camaro for his sons pinewood derby race. So he grabbed the full scale model off of Sketchup, scaled it down, and exported it as a .dxf. I imported it into Cut3d and about an hour later it was done. Here are some pics for your enjoyment:

Very nice, I love projects like that. Very fast and mind blowing to others. Usually people have a much stronger positive reaction to this kind of stuff than the really difficult projects.

Did you hold that down with hot glue? That's a pretty good idea.

It was my first try with hot glue and it was awesome! I had to really pry that sucker off!

Hot melt just around the edges?
If so that's cool! I'll be trying that with the next hard to hold project, Thanks.

I also like the hose clamp holding the extra long (it looks) brushes on the DC foot!

Thanks! Yes, the hot glue around the edge cleaned up easy with a chisel and held that board down as good as screws.

I bit off topic, but I have only carved one small 3D odject and this car has the same tool marks. Is there not a way to get a smoother finish?

John,

Make the stepover smaller until the marks are small enough top suit you.
