i see you finally figured out how to use the flash on your camera.
Absolutely beautiful. What type of wood/finish is that? It looks like some streaks of red in the drawer fronts. Is that the wood or the finish? Do they call that a Breakfront cabinet?

When you start a project like that do you work off a set of plans or does the space dictate the overall deminsions, because it looks like it fit just in that space?

The wood is poplar and plywood, the stain is Old Masters wiping stain as far as plans the people i built theese for gave me a width and height sugestion and told me what the use was going to be for and said build it. The wood color one has the soft close drawer slides and they worked out well.
The white one the arches and doors were cut with aspire, the fluted colluns with part works. why do i get 2 photos on the post? What am i doing wrong?

I never stained poplar but heard it stains nicely. Any special method to staining?
The white doors,,,,,are they also poplar?
What did you paint them with?

The white doors are mdf white 1 side doorcore . They are painted with a lac primer and gloss white lac. The photos loose so much details when you have to resize to up load them.

Gene in order to post your pictures at 640x480 you can go to www.xat.com (http://www.xat.com) and download jpeg optimizer that will allow you to keep the picture at 640x480 but lower the kilobyte size so you can post them. When you lower the size too little it does affect the resolution and quality of the pictures.
But lousey pictues can't hide the quality work you do!

What material did you make the white unit drawers out of pls?

I need to redo my baths and kitchen doors and drawers and we are staying with the white.

Would you be willing to share any of the plans for the doors and drawers that you used?

The doors are mdf white 1 side . There are alot of post in the forum and a free program called freedoors also. The drawer boxes i use are metabox by blum where the drawer slide and drawer side are 1 piece, this gives about 33 sq in of EXTRA space in a 22" deep drawer over conventional 3/4" sides. They have a press in or a screw on clip that goes on the back of the drawer front and clips on the drawer sides. Very good look, works good, adjustable. and all you have to cut is the bottom and back of the drawer. You can ( if you have aspire) lay out all the cuts for the door / drawer fronts using the offset vector keys . Maybe someone will post a link to the freedoor program . as far as finish i use a lacquer primer and top coats. So far its been good for me. Hope this is useful.
