Not sure what I need to do but the Vista / (Toshiba Laptop) is really getting slow here in the mid-west.
Went to Resource Overview and it was showing 33 hard faults per second whatever those are ..
82 processes running ...
Shopbot/ XP in the garage is fine.
Any quick tweeks or tune ups for Vista ??
Check your temporary files folder or run a defrag on the computer. This is under the control panel, under performance . then under rearrange things to make your comp run faster . Also delete some of the temp files. .

under your search type in msconfig and go to start up and uncheck everything that you don't want to run at start up. Also google advanced care and run that.

Go to http://www.blackviper.com. Lots of ways to clean and tune Vista. Great site for all MS OS's.

My laptop will run the shopbot with Windows 7 without any problems. I don't use it but when I was setting up my new shopbot I had it hooked up to it and was doing test cuts and cut the vacuum grid with it.

I just bought a used (but recent) laptop. The first thing I did with it was to format out Vista and replace it with XP pro. Before, the machine's speed was unimpressive. Now it goes very fast indeed.
I never really understood why some folk (not you guys) seem to get all hung up on having the latest windows twiddle pro whatsit. All it does is stand between you and the programs you want to use, gobbling up the processor power. The bigger your 'operating system' is, the less power there is for the things you actually want to do.
Running Vista is like expecting more than 100 mph from the family saloon, having forgotten that you also hooked it up to power your home saw mill.
Regards
Steve
