So I am using a new 3/8 compression bit, plunging to 0.385, cutting at about 12k RPM @5.5IPS and am getting chipout only on one side of my cut. Any thoughts? The pic isn't the greatest but...

Ron...
Mic your bit and see how far from the bottom the downspiral flutes end. You may have to switch to a mortise compression which has a shorter up section.

Ya know I thought I looked at that and I thought it was around 0.35. I guess that's what I get for thinking... looks like it might be closer to 0.40. I will get a mortise compression and see how it goes.

Thanks for the insight!

If you need to, you could use a smaller bit and run a pocket cut. that way you basically can cut the good way on both sides of the cut.

You would want clockwise in the pocket (conventional) to make it work.

This would increase your machine time though.
