Very Nice.
Did you use tin sheets on sides or is it textured and painted to look like it?

There is a fellow member here that is a master machinist and he has made the coolest machine to make that corrorugated metal. It's actualy aluminum flashing material. There are over 650 of those little suckers! :) Everything else was done on the bot. 7 sheets of 1/2 in HD ply. Russ

Russ,
Another masterpiece! I think that must make around a half dozen i've seen, so the question is, where are they ending up at? I know you are into trains and i'd like to see the persons backyard you are playing in!

As a kid i recall riding the trains and on long trips there was a sleeping car with rows of bunkbeds where you climbed up and into with only a curtain between you and the people walking by. There is still something magical about riding a train to me. I would rather take a 2 day train ride then a 2 hour flight. But i digress.....
GOOD JOB RUSS (AGAIN)

Jack, The buildings are going to Train Mountain also located in Chiloquin, Oregon. It is listed in the Guiness Book as the 'world's largest hobby railroad'. We currently have 35 actual miles of track. It takes more than 4 hours to take a complete train ride around the park. Fortunately there are several alternate routes so they all don't have to be that long. Over the years (23) we have placed some 75 or so model buildings and other structures. I'm the new kid on the block as far as the buildings are concerned. Most model railroads take a lot of work to do the scenery just right, well with Train Mountain we have a lot of help from Mother Nature.

I have used my bot on a lot more projects than just the buildings but none of them are all that special so I just post the train stuff. thanks for the interest, I just love this forum and the terrific amount of help you all have given me. I really do appreciate the support. Russ

Russ,

Did you ever get those assembly tables built we talked about back in 2008? Just curious how they turned out. I am always looking for new tips and tricks. :D

The railroad website is great. Thanks for sharing.

Charles, Yes I did and I followed several of the tips from that thread. The wheels under the building shown above is a cart I ordered from Harbor Freight, it comes without a deck sooooooo. Anyhow thats my low assembly / paint platform. Attached is a pic showing my main table saw height work table that gets used alot! Notice it is also the same height as the Bot and more wheels. Russ

Seeing Russ's work made me remember some small buildings that were in the park where i grew up. They were made of concrete and stones by somebody and i recall playing with my G. I. Joes there.

The most fun i had in this park my buddies and I would take these 55 gal drums for garbage cans they had there and brace ourselves inside the can while the others rolled us down the hills.
wish i was a kid again.....:(

Russ, Thats really just awesome. I can hardly tell the real from the model in the pics. Very well done.

Jack, Thats a great memory! And I would have loved that park when I was younger too.

Jack - isn't it amazing we all survived all of that without any goverment intervention! :) In our neighborhood we took cardboard boxes up to the top of the hill and slid down on the grass with the 'sled's! Most of the stops were less than eloquent! :)

My dad helped build a lot of the cement structures located in Childrens Fairyland at Lake Merrit, Oakland CA. He was also a world reknowned wood carver and when in this country on the weekends he would be Jepito at Fairyland and taught the kids to carve Pinnochios! I inherited all of his tools and many of his carvings, the only thing I didn't inherit was his terrific talent! :) Russ

Russ you obviously didn't inherit his good looks either....:)

Isn't it funny how thru our parents teaching or just hanging out with them so much you absorb and you pick up somne of the same interests and talents. You clearly must have been paying attention for sure.

I only wish i had the shop you have. Mine is 16x24 but in the next week or so i'm going to be building an extension on mine to double its size.

Keep up the good work, i look forward to seeing the projects you make and the detail you put into them.
