Having trouble fiting vectors to my photo

Hello all..I want to make a gift for a contractor we worked for on a big project (photos coming soon). So I took a picture of his Harley and wanted to do a V carving of the Logo. I would like to carve everything inside the gray area. When I try to fit vectors to bitmap it isn't even close. How can I get a good crisp carving from this photo??? Thanks for your time.

I input the term harley and it showed 41 results. I have seen dozens of harley signs/logos that guys have posted

here is the beginning of this thread that is almost 500 pages long, search it and you should see dozens maybe one will be like what you are looking for.

Here is an eps file for the vectors for the tank graphics.
I see I forgot 2 small arrows, I'll see if I can add this this evening when I get home.
