I have a potential project for a childrens clinic where we want to use a red acrylic, engrave maybe 0.02 and use maybe a yellow paint to contrast. I was thinking maybe just using a squeegee to apply the paint and what is left over is a nice contrast?? I don't need to fill the engraving just apply enough color to make the contrast. Does it sound as though I am on the right path?
Thanks,
Ron

I have used a Minwax water based stain of different colors for different things. About $9 a quart.
Mix up the color you want, put it on with a small dropper / bottle / let it dry in the cut/ groove, maybe two coats, and then sand out the excess with wet 320 grit sandpaper.
Probably only an indoor material though...

Thanks Curtis,
I am not sure about sanding on the acrylic though, I am not sure I would ever get it back to the high gloss it is currently. I tried to sqeegee some acrylic paint today with so so results...
