I guess this is a bit of an odd question but I have had this part floating around my shop. I recall un packaging it with my shopbot but what it is has been a mystery. I don't recall any mention of it with the instructions, and I can't just can't think of what its for. Then again maybe it is unrelated, but I seem to remember it coming in a bag with other parts.

Depends on the version of your machine. The fully captured Z extrusion was a production change early 2008, I think. Either way, if you can see the V rollers that allow the Z to traverse up and down, you dont need the wrench.
