I have a potential project cutting 0.02 Mylar and was curious if anyone had and suggestions.
My thought was to use carpet tape to stick it then a 1/8" downcut spiral at maybe 2ips...
Thanks,
Ron

Ron;
Cutting thin flexible materials on the Shopbot is always a pain. A better approach woud be a strong vacuum or spray adhesive (non-transferring) sprayed on the spoil board and a SHARP down spiral bit spinning as fast as you can. 2 - 4 ips is good.
I cut Mylar on my laser, no hold down issues there.

You might also try the drag knife made by WidgetWorks Unlimited.

You put the holder into your spindle just like any other bit, but don't turn the spindle on. It works very well.

a small downcut or straight bit would be the thing to try. then the vac should hold. but you need to make sure your table is smooth and clean.

Thanks guys, I didn't have the time to experiment so I gave it up to my laser guy. I will keep you mentioned in mind though!
