Hi Guys,
Been busy in retrofitting a Radial drill machine and now making use of it.. Currently drilling Tubesheet and baffle plates of exchangers..

Material: SS316
Material thickness: 30mm
Drill Material: HSS
Drill Dia: 8mm and 10mm
Drill Depth: 34mm and 55mm
Spindle Speed: 800RPM
Feed: 1.37 IPM
Peck Drilling Cycle: G73 and G83

Here is the Radial drill conversion

Khalid, as usual I am impressed. What a great idea, any downsides or troubles you encountered? Great work my friend, thank you for sharing.

Hi,
I did this conversion just to take the feel of milling and drilling exotic materials... As this is a Radial drill, so currently the milling results are not that good.. The clearance between the drill quill is 0.2mm and i am getting this error while milling..
Currently planning to remove the Radial arm along with the Spindle and fabricating new spindle and Vertical column...

What are you using the heat exchangers for? How are you going to fit the tubes to the plates?
Thanks

Hi Don,
This heat exchanger is Lube Oil Cooler of Co2 turbine+compressor....

1- We require
a) Baffles
b) Tube sheets
c) Spacers
d) Tie rods
e) Sliding Rods
2- We will make Cage, of Baffles , tube sheet, tierods and spacers..
3- Then we will insert tubes
4- Then we will weld the tubes with the tube sheets
5- The complete Tube Bundle will then be inserted into the Shell...
