I bought the Raster Pen last year. I know there's been a bit of debate on this forum about it, I can tell you that for me it's been one of the most profitable pieces of equipment that I've ever purchased. Combining that with the Bot makes me one of the only people in ATL that does braille in metals.

Anyway, not trying to renew that whole debate.

I was out of town last week, and returned yesterday to find out my vendor who cut my ADA lettering (from rowmark stock) has slotted two large jobs before me, this in spite of the agreed timeline from before I left town.

I don't think the BOT will be precise enough to do this work and I have my eye on three laser engravers. I'd like to know if any of you have any experience with ADA (or tactile) signage and if you could give me any advice?

Thanx

R

1/16 Rowmark stock, it's abs plastic made for laser cutting.

Well, I've got my eye on three machines. An epilog 50w circa 2001, A xenetech 30w circa 2006, and a chinese brand- new.

About the only thing I'm interested in is tactile ADA signage and cutting rowmark.

Just looking for advice as I've never worked with any of this.

Will the 30w have the balls to cut 1/16 abs engraving stock in a single pass?

Any gotchas I should be aware of. Expendable expenses (like router bits for the Bot)? etc...

And I simply don't enough time to research and make up my mind. I have a deadline, and even though two of these machines have been for sale for up to 4 weeks suddenly there appears to be a flurry of buyers in my area, I'm wondering if my previous laser cutting service didn't dink a few shops here in town this week.

Make me an offer on a 75 watt epilog 24x32 table with a rotary attachment .about 2 hours use on it.:)

I sent you a message. Hope it wasn't too insulting... ;)

Rob,

The thirty watt Epilog laser will cut 1/16" abs plastic easily in one pass. I have a 35 watt Epilog in my work shop and I operate a 60 watt Xenetech on my day job. For the record I am not a big fan of Xenetech.
