Some days if i leave my shopbot buddy 48 on in my shop it tends not to work i have to turn it off and leave it alone for hours with the ac on to then run a program. i was wondering if anyone has issues with overheating?

HI,

I have a Alpha PRT 96 and I leave it on all the time, I only turn if off during lighting storms or when we go on vacation. No overheating problems.

I've had some overheating issues with my PRS Alpha when cutting long 3D jobs but it will cut sheets all day long. Ensuring I had a decent airflow across the cooling fins on the control box solved that problem.

Seems a bit strange if you're getting overheating with the machine doing nothing but I suppose it depends on airflow and ambient temperature.

Could you further define "tends not to work"? Won't move? Jittery? Communication timeouts? Message appears on the screen flipping you off?

I have a PRT Alpha 96. When I'm working I turn the bot on first thing in the morning, about 6 to 7am normally and it will run all day, sometimes to 10pm before I shutdown. On occasion I have left it on overnight but there is little need for me to do that (aka I forgot to shut it down). I've never had an overheating problem.

Have you checked the grounding? Static charge build up? That could cause it to lockup though it doesn't fit hour+ restarts. In fact... it would take a lot of heat overage to require an hour+ cool down so that doesn't completely fit either.

Maybe with more details somebody might hit on an idea.

we were cutting a 3d model and it was a 110 degree day and it would suddenly stop half way through the file and it wouldn't continue

Have you checked your communication speed? There is a program in the ShopBot program to do this. It should be above 70. joe
