I have some questions about hooking up a SloSyn stepper or Servo drive to my PRT 4th axis. These drives take a step and direction signal and a built in power supply but I am not sure if its possible to let the software run this.

Im sure all will think my application is OVERKILL but I have had these since they were new and i paid over $10,000 when they were new. Now they are a dime a dozen but I hate to throw dimes away.

I'm wondering if anybody out there would be willing to spen a little time explaining some things to me?

I also dont want to smoke the PRT.

I will get this going if it is possible and I'll keep you informed as it goes.

Thanks in advance
JD

John,
If you want to make life easier for yourself, you will want to use a 4G board as a starting point. Using a 3rd generation or under PRT board with Geckos or similar step & direction drives, WILL require intricate scraping & soldering traces on the control board. A 4G or Alpha board - or even cheaper, developer's board, makes tinkering a LOT easier.
