I'm still working my way thru ecabs tutorials, though have cut several cabinets using the basics.

Right now I need to make a triangular corner shelf and hutch and looking for suggestions as it seems to be beyond what I've learned so far. It will have a rustic face frame on the front, but just need to be able to cut the carcass pieces.

I've created the attached by starting with a upper corner cabinet then setting the sides to .1" wide and gives me a pretty close approximation of what I'm looking for, but get an error writing the .twd file.

Is there another way I should construct this corner shelf or is this just not in ecabs capabilities?

Gotta find some more tutorial time!

Thanks

For me the fastest way would be to leave the sides at 3/4 inch and just not cut them.

You have to cut 45's on the ends on the TS anyway, so I would just trim the top, deck, and shelves to fit.

Problem is with the sides at either .1 or even .75 I get an error when I write the twd file:

Maybe it's something else causing the error other than side depth - I'll try remaking from scratch and see if it goes away.

Actually with a little more testing, I seem to be getting the error on creating a twd file no matter what cabinet is involved. Tried some std cabs and some jobs that worked fine before and get the error so it's not actually the corner cabs causing the problem.

I sent a query to thermwood and will see if I can re-install version 6 or something.

Take a corner upper cabinet, reduce it to the overall size that you want. Install the adjustable shelves with pin holes, if needed. Remove the left and right side. Then take the top, deck and shelves to the Part Editor to make the shelves triangular.

The easiest way is to go to the Contour mode with each part, Create Edges, draw a line to connect the two end points, erase the two lines at the back of the cabinet, return to Geometry mode, then right-click and cut through using closed contour.

If you need to extend the two sides (actually left and right back) so that you can miter them, you can force the extension by making the back left and right construction method a full dado.

Face frames are not supported with this configuration, so would need to be manually added to the cabinet by creating another cabinet minus all the other parts. This would be an assembly.

A similar cabinet can be made from a standard upper by removing the left or right end and modifying the top, deck and shelves with the Part Editor in a similar fashion.

P.S. I did not have any problem creating a .twd file with the corner cabinet.

Thanks Dennis.

Turns out my problem making a twd file is with any cabinet using 6.4 not just the corner cabinets.

Uninstall and reinstall of ecab has not helped.

I'm not sure about the problem with creating a .twd file. If you haven't you should contact our phone support folks.

Also, a reply yesterday to your post about the triangle cabinet from Kerry Fullington suggested using a front inset for the top, deck and shelf. That should also work for you and is an easy solution. No need to use the Part Editor, then.

Yes, support people are working with me to fix problem and then I'll try the solutions Kerry and you suggest. Thanks to everyone for the help!
