This is a Whelping box. The entryway on the left is shown with a simple sandwiched board with a rounded rectangle as long as the bottom of the opening placed at 25%. This allows the lowest setting (no door) when the pups are really small. And then two more settings medium and high simply by turning the door over. :cool:

Consider adding "pig rails" to the box. These horizontal rails are located about 5in (depends on size of dog/puppies) above the floor of the box and 3-5in wide. They prevent a newborn pup who gets caught behind mom from being crushed. It's especially important in litters with a large number of pups.
