Help Cutting Canoe Plans

I've designed my own stitch and glue canoe and I'm want to investigate the feasibilty/cost of having someone with a shopbot cut the panels using the dxf files I've generated. I am aware that there are several excellent kits available online but I've designed a two man Hawaiian outrigger canoe for which there are no plans.

I hope to get in touch with someone familiar with S&G boat building and the finger joints that are used to achive 18ft+ panels. I plan on using 4mm Okoume BS1088 plywood.

Any help, advice, or contacts are greatly appreciated.

Hey Jason,

FYI, whoever cuts your parts can use the Stepped Scarfer in the ShopBot Project Wizard to lay out the scarfs. It's free and makes it pretty easy once the panels are split apart.

Would/Does the stepped scarf work with ply thickenss as thin as 4mm?

The Quicklap canoe files that you can download from ShopBot uses 4mm ply and the download includes a file to cut scarfs the full width of the sheet.

p.s. As I said before I'm "metrically-challenged" so if you use the Stepped Scarfer in the Project Wizard with metric units the ShopBot files will be OK but the layout preview will be WAY too small. It's on the todo list, just no promises when.
