I have a job to make a sign for a girls horse riding club that will hang in the barn at the county fair. It is a 4-H club so I have to incorporate the 4-H logo in somewhere. The name of the club is "Ready to Ride". My first thoughts are make a horse shoe, maybe 3d, and using the name Ready to ride carved in following the arch of the shoe. Then putting the 4-H logo in the middle or in the corners. Maybe border the sign in a rope design. I need to carve both sides.

I may have to see what James Booth has premade, my 3d modeling skills are "in process".

For the sign I was going to use 4/4 Sassafras glued into a panel, then face glue those to panels to create an 1 1/2" sign. The approximate size is 1 1/2" x 30" x 36" - 48" long.

If anyone has made horse type signs and would like in input ideas, I am open. I just received this one last night, and have about 3 weeks to do it.

Tracy,

Perhaps you could spend some time at the Noella's portfolio pages www.farmsigns.com (http://www.farmsigns.com)

I'm suspicious the 4H Club has a small budget so this may be a learning piece. I can imagine incorporating some wrought iron, leather and or jute rope. You're not limited to rough wood.

Here is what I would do with horse shoe.
Keep in mind 2d is faster to do and that translates to easy design.

I would look for vector if not found I would look for good picture jpeg and create
vectors over a picture. I would use v bits to do bevels etc 3d look can be achieved with minimal design and machining time layer all in various planes to get dimesional feel.

A girl on the horse western or english saddle as appropriate and the 4H as the riders crest.
