How are you finishing these? Presumably you put the surface color on before cutting? I would have thought that the surface color would still penetrate a ways into the MDF, so do you need to put a clear coat on first to stop the bleeding?

I pre-painted a sheet of MDF (Trupan) because I had several to make for gifts .

I just painted the MDF and V-Carve the frames and left carvings natural.
Top coated with clear finish.

With the Sox a non factor this year it's probably a safe time to wear it. We're going to be in the area next month when the Yankees are playing a stand at Fenway and our friends told us we'll be able to get tickets easy at game time!!
