editing/combining probed files

I have an object that I am probing that has some pretty good detail in one area that probably only constitutes about 10% of the entire object.

I was wondering if I could:
a. probe the whole object at a coarser resolution
b. probe the smaller area in a finer resolution
c. combine the two files so that the smaller area's finer resolution is retained within the context of the larger file.

I have ArtCAM to do some of the post-production work after doing some of the conversion work with the ShopBot console.

Yes. Run it through the Probe2Surface Converter (GGI) and then output it as a 3D DXF. Then import it into ArtCAM as a 3D model. Save each result as a RLF. Then you can hack, modify and merge both to get the desired result.
