Heading up to Timber Products in Medford, OR tomorrow and getting a tour of the mill and the way they make the panels we love. Hopefully get to view the Hardwood Plywood mfg, and the Melamine plant. I'll post some pics when I get back. Oh, taking a 3 seat twin turboprop plane there too. Wish me luck!

A three seater?
You must explain!

Justin,

I don't know if they're still running, but a trip to the Hull-Oakes Lumber Co. sawmill just south of Corvallis for a tour would be worth checking out! I got to see it in the early '90's and really enjoyed it!

That was pretty cool Scott.
Amazing they are still using that old equipment and making money with it.

I think I would still rather see a modern facility though.
I would like to see how they make what I use today.

I don't know...it would be hard to imagine a better job than pushing logs around in the log pond with that little tug!

Bill,

That and the guy that ran the big Douglas Firs into the pencil sharpener that took the bark off. ;)

Ok, it was a 4 seat Beechcraft. I got to fly the thing for about an hour of the trip.

We saw a bunch in one day. The face grading room, melamine, pre-finish line, particle board press, and hardwood plywood manufacturing.

If you haven't visited a mill, you have a lot to learn. I sure did. I will post some pics when I pull them off my camera.
