Greetings Router Heads,

I've attached an Ebay sight for discounted Leitz router bits most of which are selling for less than $15.00 For those who don't know this company they produce some of the most precision cutting tools on the planet. You may notice the resemblance to Belin. Both are top drawer, having unique Micro Diamond Sharpening. It's this final touch that makes them last so long

If anyone is interested, search “Belin Y” for their catalog. At the end of their site is a feed and speed chart.

Here they offer their USA catalog and sharpening services. Can't wait to try this out.

Happy Routing

Great find, Joe!

If I remember correctly, Leitz is the parent company of both Belin and Onsrud...

Ron,

I'm not sure E. Leitz is the parent company. As you know German engineers are very sovreign and hold their cards clost to the chest. What I do know is Belin Y, which comes out of France is under the same flag (LMT) as several other machine company's. Onsrud has a small, little part of this group. That doesn't mean they are partners or advisors. Onsrud makes lesser quality products.

E. Leitz manufacturers very precision medical optics, microscopes, camera's, and cutting tools. They have a dozen outlets in our country. I'm very interested in their sharpening services. If they use the same diamond sharpening tools as in Europe, it would be a real find.

Belin Y is close to the same quality and are not too expensive.

Thanks for posting.

I like Belin tools.. my local plastics house sells their O-flute upcut spirals and they work well on Sintra.

Thanks for the clarification, Joe.

I didn't mean to imply that the various companies under the LMT group produced the same quality products, but the Onsrud catalogs have the LMT logo on the bottom, and from LMT site:

"Under the name LMT – Leitz Metalworking Technology Group the companies Böhlerit, Fette, Kieninger,

Onsrud, Bilz and Belin work together. The joint forces of these six well-known companies in the metal
working industry offer our customers an opportunity to improve efficiency in productivity, quality and
service."

I think my mistake was from confusing LMT with the Leitz group - two different groups, but both under Leitz Holding Co.

Here's a link that outlines the associations:

Ron

Ron,

Thanks very much for the excellent information.

I have limited knowledge of Leitz international associations. I was fortunate to receive a stipend from them back in 1981. The offered me a training program in their photographic area. They flew me up to Rockleigh, N.J. for a weeks stay. Everything about that company was so precision it's hard to convey. Even their coffee breaks were and exercise in structure.

I've been using Belin's for some time and they don't seem to wear out and they leave a clean nice edge on my materials.
