Being new to Shopbot and Corel, I am curious about two issues.
#1 Am I correct in that Pathworks takes JPEGs?
#2 Since images created through Photoshop can be converted to JPEGs, I suspect that I am able to create via Photoshop and not Corel and import to Pathworks. Might this be true?

PartWorks can import Bitmaps (JPG is a bitmap). You then use its tracing feature to create vectors. Creating useable vectors from this feature will require a learning curve... I use Photoshop to manipulate images I'm going to import into PartWorks. Use the drawing features of PartWorks to design Geometric shapes... the trace feature is an approximation.

Whenever you can you're much better off to work with vectors than jpegs (bitmaps).

If you want to work with programs other than Partworks then exporting as EPS works best.
