Has anyone used the new Desktop shopbbot and if so I would be very interested in your opinion as to it performance etc.

I would call shopbot and see if they are planning to take one to any CNC events or trade shows in your area in the near future.

I saw it at the Detroit Makers Fair and It was cutting very nice. They were cutting a 3d Ford pickup truck and some other things. Looks to be a winner.

I saw it at a Maker Faire and it was doing everything the big guys do. As I understand the technology it is actully more accurate than a regular bot. I believe it's the difference between a rack and pinion system (regular bot) and a worm/screw drive system (mini bot). I can't vouch for the speeds but it seemed to be doing a good job on the projects they were cutting. One of the jobs was actualy a printed circuit board! Pretty cool! Russ

Anyone picked one up yet? I'm considering. I'd be interested in first impressions and any hiccups expected.

I'm curious about the deck and what sort of space there is under.
1) I'd be interested in setting up an indexer that could fit within the frame.
2) I'd like to be able to cut the surface of large objects fed into the table from below with a lift.
I'm imagining mounting this item on a table that is more of a frame with empty space below. I just can't tell from the few pics if the deck removes in a nice way leaving a full size hole. Anyone know if there is cross bracing or otherwise something below the deck?
I had sent some questions to shopbot, but didn't hear back. Will try again this week on the phone instead.
