What books have influenced your work the most, and which do you turn to for technical advice. I am looking for books that are not only up to date but have tested, and proven techniques that will last in a climate with harsh winters.

I am starting to dip my feet into the waters of sign making and I want to learn how to do things right. I think I spent about 6 hours yesterday just reading posts on this forum, and I would like to thank everybody who has contributed the vast quantities of information. You guys know who you are.

The best advise I could give would be to subscribe to SignCraft Magazine.

www.signcraft.com

There you will find a list of available books. My suggestion would be learn the art of design first. That is the foundation of any sign. The construction materials and methods will not save a poor design.

You'll find all the techniques you need by subscribing to the journals.

Go to www.nbm.com and you'll find Sign Business magazine. There are also workshops and seminars listed that you can attend.

Several websites will help also - www.letterville.com. You'll find all kinds of links and helpful hints.

That should keep you busy for a few days.
