I been cutting gingerbread from 1/2 ply. the problem i am having is where the pieces that are cutout get caught under the dust foot.
this cause a problem by catching in the precut grooves sometimes causing the gantry to derail.
any sugestions?

Try widgetworks pressor foot. it lets you cut small parts without losing them.

Also try an 1/8th downspiral without dust collection. That will tend to leave the parts on the table.

if you use the downcut then you can get away with the dc. a 1/8" two passes or what I like for 1/2" is a 5/32" from centurion. you can do them in one pass and they will stay in place.
no need for the pressure foot for that job. though it is a good tool.

1/8 or 5/32 bit never thought of anything that small.
how much life can you get from these bits?
how fast can you push them i have a 3hp spindle.
can i have the part # of these bits.
can order a few for a try.
thanks paul

Centurion;
one source of many, but they are really good bits from a well run business
http://www.centuriontools.com then solid carbide wood then down shear - then 2 flute and there should be a whole page of different sizes

I get hundreds of feet of cutting from 1/8 bit in 1/2 plywood 1/8 max depth cut at 1.5 to 2 inches/sec @ 12 > 14000 rpm BUT that is just what works for me
larger bits will cut much deeper without deflection or breaking too often

with the 5/32" I have cut a lot of ply at 2ips in one pass. you won't get as long of life with a downcut because of the sawdust issue. but it saves in lost parts and no tabs needed.

I run the 1/8th inch centurion downspirals, honestly, I snap them before they get dull. Or maybe its me.
