know for many this is ancient history, but i still use vector (vector32 - which shows as version 9.3.047) which used to shipped with the prt. recently had my computer crash, got a new windows 7 version and have successfully installed vector on the new computer. now i need to make it produce shopbot code - does anyone recall the difference between: shopbt2g.cfg, shopbt2f.cfg and shopbt2e.cfg? also what is shoptoGC.cfg
thanks

I have Vector 9.4.041. I use the shopbt2f.cfg and there is also a shopbt2d.cfg on mine. I think the consetive letters correspond to the builds. 9.3.xxx may take the shopbt2e.cfg but I am not sure. The shopbt2GC.cfg probabably converts to G-Code just a guess!

Don,
I have Vector XT 10.0.044 and it uses shopbt2g.cfg. I'm not sure what the differences are, but there used to be a problem with arcs that generated loops. I think that was addressed by both Vector and ShopBot at some point before shopbt2g.cfg. There were some setting that were recommended for default units. I think it was in the NC window under Options/Units and Dialogdigits = 6. Maybe do that also in the main window under Special/Options/Units.
Did you actually get Vector to run on Win 7 without XP mode virtualization? I have to run it (when needed for special circumstances and old files) in the XP mode virtual machine. I have Win 7 64 bit.
shopbt2GC.cfg just converts to Gcode.

I just looked up the current pricing for Vector and it is pretty unbelievable. I am sure it has plenty of new features than when I last used version nine long ago (and in a galaxy far away) but the price for the current version with rotary axis and 3d surface machining is almost $3000.

actually vector 9.3 is a 32 bit program that will run in windows 7 in the administrative mode. my problem was that my license was on a floppy, which is not supported by windows 7. i got great help from Jacqueline LaFrance IMService Customer Support imserv@imsrv.com. i am sure she would be glad to assist you.
