Hi, I've just loaded Aspire 3. Do I need to install or select a post processor somehow to make it work properly with my 2006 PRT Alpha? I'm using Windows 7 if that makes a difference.
Thanks much,
Gerry

hi Steve,
Does that mean I need to select one then? If yes, what program would I do that in, Aspire or Shopbot and where would I find them? OR is it a situation where I select the right one in a menu when I'm going to tool path? I've had a Shopbot for a couple of years but only now starting to learn how to set it up and use it heh, heh.
thanks much for the help.

Gerry,

From Aspire you would setup and calculate your toolpaths first. Then when you are ready to save the toolpaths to use on the machine, you would click on the "Save Toolpath" icon as shown in the first picture. This will open the Save Toolpaths window as shown in the second picture.

When you click on the down arrow to the right side of the Post Processor box (circled in red) you will see all the current post processors appear. Find an appropriate one for your machine and select it.

If nothing changes in the future, you only have to do this once as it becomes the default post processor when you open this window in the future.

If you have any problem identifying the correct postprocessor to use, post some info about your machine (router or spindle, tool changer, etc.) and someone will point you in the right direction.

There are some very good tutorials on your Aspire DVD that covers creating and saving toolpaths. These may be worth watching.
