I had checked in a couple times (heres one.. http://www.talkshopbot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7193) since installing the Brady Vac with the central vac motors.

Sad to say, but not disappointed, after running about 700 hours a year since installed, one of my vacs just yesterday started running slower, then slower, then slower until it quit altogether. It only took a few minutes to finish itself off. I wanted to mention this to you folks because right after it quit, I killed the power and opened the vac box and that one motor was VERY hot. Nothing scorched or burned but it was near hot enough to do so.

Mine are on a breaker sized for 30amps and I guess the internals of these little motors can get quite warm before tripping a 30amp breaker. The wire feeding the vacs was cool to the touch and the inside of my vac box was clean as a whistle.

So, another reminder to not leave your bot unattended very long without checking things out.

Now that I am needing to replace a vac, are there currently any better, more suitable, more durable, and/or cheaper central vac style vacs that I should go with this time?

John...
Lighthouse is still the best place to purchase. Vacs are getting stronger and prices are getting better.
