I want to purchase 5hp 3phase VFD to run my 3hp 3phase komo spindle. I have seen people discuss in forum of connect 2 poles from vfd to 220v single phase, vfd will reduce power close to 3hp then it will work for my spindle, cause I don't have 3 phase in my shop. Anyone know about it, please help or advise to buy the right one for use?
Tom,

Here is the link of item I want to buy.

Any VFD I have looked at seem to be able to run off 1 phase, just oversize it like you're thinking. My VFD says 3 phase in but I run single no problem.

Usually the VFD is sized at double the motor size, if you are going to run of off single phase power. I have a 10 HP delta running a 5 HP columbo spindle. Works great.
