Bot Brothers, I had an opportunity to design and build a tribute wall for the new Albuquerque animal shelter. It was also memorial to the late Mrs. Paula Higgins, her family donated the majority of the funding. This was a monster project as it started from sketches to the final install yesterday.
The boards are all hard maple with walnut edge-banding. The bones that lock the plates together are solid walnut. The dog and cat were both cut from MDF, lacquer sealed and hand painted by a local artist. The scroll is also MDF and painted by ourselves. There is also a small brochure holder to let people know how they can donate and get their message engraved on the perpetual plaques.
Install was tricky. When we last seen the wall it was brick. When we went to install it was sheetrock, lights hung, and apparently steel backer beams behind the sheetrock. In hind sight we should have recon'd the wall a day prior. We adapted and got everything hung with very happy fan fair. Glad it is over!
