Here are a couple of impressive grandfather clocks that a client of mine built. One is for his son and the other is for his daughter. I machined the curved crown using Aspire. I also cutout the 1" thick backer for the crown so that this would match up exactly to the crown profile. The other items that I did were the upper side doors for the sound chambers.

The gentleman that built these is in his 80s and is a retiree from one of the local old time furniture plants. He started building these over 10 years ago. I believe that it was well worth the patience. I didn't really make much money on this job, but I felt good just playing a small part in helping create heirlooms like this. These will be pieces that will be passed down for generations.

Brad - can you find out what movement was used in them?

Looks like a lot of work without a shopbot!

Absolutely gorgeous. I don't blame you for not seeing this as a dollar thing.

Check out "Klock It" and "Time Savers" they are both on the web and I have had very good service from both of them. "Klock it" is more movement oriented and time saver has both movements and repair parts. :D
