What is the best material, most likely manmade, that I can use to make some gable vents? I will be painting them. I made a couple out of wood and they don't hold up real good because of the moisture here. I am thinking of Medex or something like it. I made a cut in pink foam but it doesn't give me the smoothness I want. Any suggestins?

Try one of the PVC exterior trims like Fypon or similar. Google "pvc trim" for examples. Same ( at least it appears) as PVC sign foam. I have cut miles of gingerbread and custom exterior trim for the 4 by 8 sheets. One note, it is pvc, so it needs a UV blocker such as a good coat of prime and paint

i will try to see if it is available to me. Don't forget I am in the middle of nowhere! Maybe the local lumber dealer will have a connection for it. What am I looking as far as price? Everything here is high dollars!!!

From what I have seen, it is easier to get a good price when "everythng" is high dollar. :)
