Moving away from hardwoods in this job. I need to cut a groove in some 1/2" thick plexiglass. The groove is .078 x .125 deep. I have a .078 spiral solid carbide end mill and plan on stepping down maybe .032 at a time. I want to avoid loading up the bit and breakage. Thanks.

You kay be able to do it in one pass but two is nto a big deal. I usually cut 1ips 8k at most.

Tracy:

Steve has it right on-two passes is an easy cut for this. I would make sure my bit is plastics geometry. 1 0r 2 flute up-cut O-flute.
There will be a difference in how the plastic cuts if it is extruded or cast. For extruded quite often a straigh O flute works better.

key is to not reweld plastic onto it self, a bit of air to cool and remove chips always helps
