My 2002 prt is now a single piece gantry..am very pleased with it,
I first started with extruded aluminum 3x6 8020 for the gantry but ended up tossing it, couldn't get the ends strong.
I had and old logging truck reach in the scrap yard so cut off 6 ft. and made the gantry from it 5x5 280 wall steel, I gaurantee Mr. Brady can dance on it...anytime he is in the area..
Total cost of all the changes 1671.00 including spindle.. I have yet to do the belt drive on it I have the parts but am so pleased with the cuts and speed...
The motors are Motion king cost 200.00 plus shipping, the power supply is homemade 50 volts 12 amps cost 90.00, the gears from Misumi 260.00
including shipping, all the metal from my scrap pile..I tried various types of
linear slides on the aluminum extrusions..they are not in the cost I am showing..
a little video of it running.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38wzs0rT-fA

Is that a welding cable on the end or just a very macho ground wire ??

I like the "lexan bow e-chain" pretty clever.

I didn't actually say it looked like a ballerina hippo...but if the shoe fits... :D

Seriously...looks good. Hopefully it is much stiffer & smoother than what you had before.

I think Brady hit on something there....I think you need to name your bot "The Dancing Hippo"

She's strong and sturdy, yet nimble and quick....

carve this picture and attach:D

Dan had to make it robust; where he lives, his right hand man is a Sasquach;)

Hey Gerry, my right hand mans name is Joe Yeti, he said the sasquach clan will never amount to much... with that said I guess I did ask what I should call it,
Lets see....Hammerbot,Macho-bot,Dancing Hippo or Jack...:D

Yes Curtis that is a ground cable, temporary... no more than a few years..

Brady, I pocketed some 6061 to day ended up doubling my normal speed
and the sound is totally different, so is the finish...
