I submitted this link to YouTube

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PT23YRbbnWM

It is showing the final finishing cuts on a Floral Cartouche with a human face cameo in the center.

The majority of the carving was finished with a 1/8 in ball end mill, then I switched to a 1/32 radius carving tool for finishing the cameo.

After the cameo was carved, then the entire perimeter of the Cartouche was cut out and finished as shown in the image below.

George,

You are way ahead of me as far as this type of CNC machining goes and the following criticism is meant only to be constructive from an artist view point:

The carving is dominated by the floral boarder. The face of your wife Joan is too small (in comparison), and not defined as sharply as everything around it. That's why it doesn't "pop".

You're almost "there". Keep cutting. :)

George,
Nice work on the oak plaque and the video. Used as the backing for the chair, I think the size proportions look great. Personally, to me it is more pleasing to the eye to have the subtler look it has, rather than an over-stated face glaring out. But everyone has their own preferences. Great idea... look forward to seeing more videos of your work!!
