I am trying to generate a super simple cut. It is in .250 thick aluminum and I want to cut .050 per pass.

No matter what I try the tool path will generate to cut through the material and into the table. If I use the settings above it will cut to .300 or one pass to much into the table.

The only way I can get what I want is to tell the software that the material is only .200 think, and then it will generate a toolpath that is .250 deep.

What could possible be wrong?

It sounds like you may have start depth set to 0.05". If so, set it to 0.0.

Make sure when you set up your part for cutting you set your Z zero to the top of material

Make sure you are Z zeroing on the top of the material on the table.

Try your file with scrap to see what happens.

I'm not technically proficient in some things but maybe it has to do with table base coordinates?

Are you Zzeroing with the aluminum plate? Check to see if the thickness settings are correct for that?

Thanks floks. It was the start depth.
