Today we top coated HDU letters in perpetration for gold. I wanted to show how non complicated this process is. We used dixie cup and small #4 brushes to move the material around. You lay down a generous amount of epoxy and push it to the edges. This isn't a tricky process. It's easy. No syringe were used. Out here in Oklahoma the summer temps hover around 100 degrees so it's necessary to have an iced water bath. Once epoxy starts to heat up it will set in minutes. Even if you're not top coating HDU letters for gold, it's still a fast and easy method as a undercoat for regular painting.
I'm taking photo's of as it goes along and will post a few more when finished. Because of the larger format sizes I'll be sending them over to the Router Forum.
It's necessary to lightly mist with denatured alcohol. Very lightly. Too much and you'll screw up the beautiful surface sheen.
