Does anyone have a DXF of the ShopBot Workstation project? I'd like to make some changes to it in order to use it as a kiosk for my flight simulator. I'd rather not have to draw it based on the one I built a few years ago - I just don't have the time. :(

Thanks all!

I believe it is on the 100k garages site

I believe it is on the 100k garages site

I've looked there - the zip file contains all of the SBP cut files and some instructions, but no CAD files.

tnx.

Thanks Jimmy.

Here's the project I'd like the DXF file for:

(What Jimmy had wasn't what I needed, but I really appreciate the effort!)

Gene,

I have the original zip file, but there's no .dxf in the archive. You could run the files through the .sbp to .dxf converter or if you happen to have the old Vector program you can backplot it too.

The other option would be to ask Bill Young if he has the .dxf for it.

I tried the SBP->DXF converter and ended up with an unusable mess unfortunately.

Bill - if you're reading this, is there any way you could throw the DXF my way?

Tnx!

Here's what I got. It should get you close. Profile on line or offset to the outside by 0.125"

I'm sure Bill has this, but though I'd give it a try. ;)

Gene when I built my simpit I got the plans from this great site:
http://www.rogerdodger.net/index.html

I built the PACS http://www.rogerdodger.net/diyflightsims/pacs.html and used Saitek pedals, switchpanels and the X-52 Pro HOTAS to finish it off. I don't have a projection screen (yet) so in the meantime I have a 42" flat panel mounted on the front:D

Thanks Scott! If I understand correctly, if I want to "restore" it to the original dimensions by doing an outside offset of .125?

Brian, I built one of his Sidewinder lamps - the plans are nice, but firmly in what I would call the "lo-fi" category.

Wander around here: http://geneb.simpits.org and you'll understand why I think that way. :D http://www.f15sim.com and http://www.diy-cockpits.org/coll would be recommended too. *grin*

If you can swing, it get two more 42" displays and a Matrix Triple Head 2 Go, digital version. Your SO will have to knock you unconscious to get you out of that thing. :D

Very nice Gene! My rig is very much lo-fi ...but then again most of my simpit time is spent with Rise of Flight in this :D

Gene,

Yes, it was set up for a 0.25" bit and the converted path is center of the cutter.

@Brian: I bought RoF, but I could never get past the first training mission. The engine in the plane would die within 2 minutes no matter what I did. It was maddening. :) If you don't have a TrackIR, GET ONE. :)

@Scott: Thanks!

Hi Gene,

The workstation design was done before we had any toolpathing software available, so there really isn't a dxf file of the actual parts. I had to draw the centerline of the bit in my old version of TurboCAD, and then create the sbp file from TurboCAD's text file output format and a lot of editing to place tabs, etc.

The dxf that Scott posted is as close as anything I have, and as he says will have to be offset by 1/8" if you need the true shape of the pieces.

You new guys don't know how easy you have it!

Bill

Bill, I'd be happy to upload the "fixed" DXF file when I get it adjusted so other folks can have at it.

I _know_ how easy I have it. :D You can have my modern ShopBot when you pry it out of my cold, dead, hands. :)

Drawing lines in direction and order and then converting to .sbp or bangin' your head against the wall with VectorCam until you both got it. Those were the days! ;)

There were some ShopBotters that just loved Vector but I never could make heads or tails of it. Even the great Vector Master John Forney tried to teach me, with no success.

If it wasn't for Brian and Tony and the Vectric guys I'd still be toolpathing with NotePad!
