View Full Version : Aspire file for carving a seat
I was wondering if anyone has an Aspire (or Partworks) file for a carved seat for a chair that I could beg, barrow or steal to make three bar stool seats.
They will be carved in to a 1.25" thick hickory board.
Thanks in advance. :D

What type of seat? Windsor or just a dished round? the two rail sweep function is your friend for this one.
David
Just a dished round. I will mess around with the two rail sweep. Haven't tried it yet but will look at the tutorials on it.
Thanks!

A good while ago i seem to recall someone posting some type of seat file they had made over on the vectric site. I don't know what filetype it was but maybe do a search for "barstool" or chair or other appropriate term:D

Don...
There was a thread a while back on the Vectric/Aspire forum where a user posted a chair seat, I believe it was for a Maloof style chair. Maybe more than you need, bur good to have in the library.

Don,
Start a new file in aspire
draw a circle in the 2d view
change to the modeling tab and select create shape from vectors.
Choose the dome and pull the slider down below zero to get the desired shape. If you tile the windows to see the 2d and 3d at the same time it helps.
It should look like this pic.
Thank you everyone! I will check out these sources.
