I am trying to export from Rhino 4 to Artcam excell..(to produce tool path).. I am saving as a dwg and a dxf file but am unable to get Artcam to accept ... gives me a spline error and then shuts down... I had Insignia before my shop was broken into and we lost a laptop and the dongle... This was my normal procedure before... has anyone had this experience/could give advice on how to solve this issue...

Your help would be greatly appreciated...

I think you need to export as an older version DXF or choose AI format. These are just lines that will be flattened as viewed in the Top perspective in Rh4. If you want to pull in the 3D shape, then select the polysurface & export as STL Mesh. Then you can import into Pro.

Brady,

thanx for taking time to look at my issue...

Is there a specific version of DXF to utilize ???

My attachment is only a snapshot... I have a full Rhino 4 file and have been trying to export various ways... There is a similar issue on the ArtCam web blog as well--

Definitely want to export as 3D have been trying as u suggest the STL version but to no avail. still Artcam will only recognize jpg files in 2 D --

Would you know if I am limited on the ArtExpress with only 2D capabilities... will importing as STL only work in pro???

Gary,

thank you for your time assisting me with this issue, I sent u another mail via Artcam Forum before realizing you had already responded to me here at shopbot.. I apologize for the redundancies,,,,,

I am currently attempting your suggestion-- under Reliefs i am able to see the Import 3D Model, but in ghosted form and unable to select.. when i try and open under file -- it gives me artcam has encounter a serious problem and needs to shut down...

What would be the best file format to save in Rhino === I thought dwg was the correct form ==

also another error I am receiving is...

"OpenGL 2.0 rendering has been selected, however OpenGL reports an earlier version. Reverting to pre-OpenGL 2.0 functionality.."

Brady,

sorry about that -- excell was incorrect on my part -- U r correct it is express... sorry for the mis-direction.....
