Hello fellow botters,
I have a problem I am hoping you can help me with. My dust collector head is stuck up into the Z carriage. I can loosen the thumb screw but the dust collector will not drop down. My fear is that one of the two screws (the upper one) has backed its way out (from vibration) inside the extruded aluminum housing and essentially locked the head in the up position.
Before I go taking things apart I wanted to see if you had any thoughts.
I am also thinking of upgrading to the Alpha stepper motors and control box. I have a standard now and I find it looses its XYZ coordinates on a regular basis. I am working on very detailed 3D models and the loss of XY or Z can lead to a ruined part. Would upgrading to Alpha solve this problem? Since the stepper motors know where they are, do they stay on the prescribed path more reliably?
