I brought this up in my other thread, no one commented on it. I got this message yesterday, right before all the problems.. a pop up window, says shopbot 3 on the header and this message:

Due to a software update the toolbar 'menu bar' has changed. would you like to reset your customized toolbar and load the new one?

First off, the pc isn't online at all. Second, i didn't change anything. I just downloaded the latest control software, and i STILL got this popup when i ran it for the first time. I used remove programs to take the old software off, restarted, then installed the new software, and did the mandatory restart there.

I also went in and reset it to default values, and set my machine type, etc.

I jogged it around and no issues, haven't tried to cut. I want to go through the grounding guide and implement all that first, so i have my bases covered.

I answered that question in my post # 6.

David:

I occasionally got this message also... I always answered no and went merrily on my way. I haven't gotten this message since I went to Windows 7. I don't know "who" is generating this message. I haven't found it mentioned on the SB forum or MS web site. Since all is well after answering "no" I haven't worried about it.

I usually see it when the software crashes.

ahh, you did Gary, my appologies. I was really suprised to see it pop up today after removing the control software, and installing the latest version. If i see it again tomorrow, i guess i should assume somthing still isn't right.

If it did this after a new SB3 install, there is most likely a registry error. Most likely as a result of a crash. Once you start & shut down SB3, it should go away. If you get the message again, select yes, that should remove the popup on the next open cycle.
