Okay I know that a lot of you guy's use Aspire Version 3, so that is why I am asking in the Shopbot forum. I am drawing and then cutting a 5 pointed star and no matter what I do it always shows a "Backbone' that is not a straight line. I have tried just about all I can think of. What am I missing to get the "Backbone" to be straight?? Thanks! By the way the material is .75 thick and the star is 6.5 inches in diameter. I tried to upload a picture but can't get it to work.

Hi Daryl,

Here is how I make stars using Aspire.

Draw the vectors for one leg.

Draw a vector for the profile.

Create one leg using the two rail sweep. Ensure combine mode set to Merge.

Select the leg and create 5 copies using the Array Copy tool.

Either Group or Bake the legs to create the final star.

The file is here:

Or for a very fair price you can get a professional design through VectorArt3D:

Tim, after some time I got it done!!! Thanks! By the way I couldn't open your first file highlited. I have Aspire 3 and it said it needed version 6.09. Is there something I should know to open these type of files. I have run across this before.

Have you done an update? Look on the Help menu and click Check for Updates.

Sounds like you may have your file associations in Windows messed up. That sounds like the version for VCarve, instead of Aspire. Have you tried opening Aspire first and opening it from there?

Just a thought...
